There are many reasons to come to therapy: at any time in life, whether struggling with a particular event, past trauma or ongoing concerns. Everyone is unique and comes to therapy with their own life story, culture and beliefs.
Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy (MBCPP) is the original mindfulness-based psychotherapy in the UK, that integrates Buddhist psychology and compassion practices, with western psychotherapeutic theory. MBCPP is not about following a particular formula, rather about deeply listening to each individual and their needs. By slowing down and paying attention to the here and now, we can bring awareness to mind, body and habitual reactions, which may help to bring some compassion and understanding to ourselves. You do not need to be a Buddhist or meditator to attend MBCPP therapy.
I am a senior trainee in Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy working in Hackney.
Some of the areas I focus on include (but are not limited to) anger, anxiety, bereavement, illness, life transitions, self-harm, sexuality and spirituality. You may want to talk about some of this, or something different, or you may have several concerns.
